He was born on Dec. 24, 1920 in Surry County to the late James G. Stuart [sic; Stewart*] and Mamie Goodrich Stuart. Pete retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation, Waverly Residence, in 1983 after 23 years. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict in the 176 Engineer Construction Battalion as a Technician. Mr. Stuart is survived by his wife, Grace James Stuart; one stepdaughter, Peggy H. Logan of Chester; two step-granddaughters and four step-great- grandchildren. A graveside funeral service was held at Rocky Hock United Methodist Church Cemetery, Wakefield, on Nov. 13 a 2 p.m. with the Rev. Ray Rowland officiating.
