He was a native of Sussex County, and had lived in Surry County most of his life. He was a carpenter by trade. He was a member of the Rocky Hock Methodist Church, and the Wakefield Hunt Club. Besides his wife, surviving are his mother, Mrs. Mamie Stewart of Wakefield; three daughters, Mrs. Elinor Antis of Hopewell; Mrs. Dorothy Martin of Glen Allen and Mrs. Rose Mary Stewart of Wakefield; three brothers, Willie B. Stuart [sic*] of Richmond; Roy H. Stewart [sic; Stuart] of Ashland and Ashton L. Stewart [sic; Stuart] of Richmond; two grandchildren and nieces and nephews. His father was the late James G. Stewart. Funeral services will be conducted at the Purviance Funeral Home here Monday at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in Rocky Hock Cemetery.
