Born Nov. 23, 1934, in Dendron, Va., she was the daughter of the late Walter Arrington and Lillian James Stephenson. Mrs. Stroud was a graduate of the University of Richmond (Westhampton College) and was a teacher at Suffolk High School, Paul D. Camp Community College in Suffolk and a substitute teacher at Nansemond Suffolk Academy. An active member of Oxford United Methodist Church, she was a member of the United Methodist Women and formerly served as treasurer of the UMW. She was a member of the Bridge Club, Nansemond River Power Squadron, the Great Bridge Cruise Club and a volunteer for the Salvation Army Mission. Survivors include her husband, George H. "Jack" Stroud Jr.; daughters, Elizabeth James Winston of Richmond, Mary Stroud Davies and husband Thomas of Suffolk; son, George Walter Stroud and wife Betty Jo of Windsor; grandchildren, Ellee Winston, James Davies, Christian Davies and Zachary Stroud. The funeral will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in Oxford United Methodist Church by the Rev. John Shappell and the Rev. T. Floyd Irby with burial in Wakefield Cemetery, Wakefield, Va. The family will receive friends in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory Sunday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Oxford United Methodist Church General Budget, 601 W.
