Amanda Lynn Seeley, 19, of Wakefield was driving around a bend in the southbound lane of the highway, just south of Route 609, about 3:15 p.m. when she lost control of her four-door sedan, said Sgt. D.S. Carr, a spokesman for the Virginia State Police. Investigators were reconstructing the crash late Friday. Carr said he did not know whether the slick conditions contributed to the accident. "It was not a very sharp curve," Carr said. "We don't know if rain was a factor. She was sliding." Seeley's car spun around sideways as it entered the northbound lane. An oncoming minivan struck the passenger's side of Seeley's car, causing extensive damage. The speed limit on that section of the highway is 55 mph. Both cars ended up in a deep ditch off to the side of the northbound lane. Officials closed that side of the highway down to one lane for emergency vehicles. The four occupants of the minivan, a family from Maryland, were transported to Obici Hospital in Suffolk with non-life-threatening injuries, Carr said. No information on their conditions was available Friday. ****************************************************************************** AMANDA LYNN SEELEY WAKEFIELD - Amanda Lynn Seeley, 19, passed away Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, in Isle of Wight county, Va.
