Seeley, 89, Of Wakefield Dies WAKEFIELD, May 28 - Clifton H. Seeley, 89 a charter member and first president of the Wakefield Ruritan Club, died Sunday at a Petersburg hospital. Mr. Seeley, who lived in Sussex county near here for 45 years and near Petersburg for 15 years, is survived by his wife, Mrs. Florence G. Seeley; two sons, sons, [sic] W. E. Seeley of Clover, S.C., and W.C. Seeley of Waverly; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Ashbaugh of Columbus, Ohio, and Mrs. Effie Chapman of Fallen [sic; Fallon], Nev.; seven stepchildren, seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Purviance Funeral Home here, with burial in Wakefield Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** Oldest Local Ruritan Died after Long Illness Clifton H. Seeley, 89, died in a Petersburg hospital, Sunday night, May 27, after a long illness. He was a native of Ohio and was a resident of Sussex County for 45 years. He made his home in Petersburg for the past 15 years. He was a charter member and the first president of the Wakefield Ruritan Club, and a former member of the Wakefield Methodist Church. Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Florence Grubbs Seeley, of Petersburg; two sons, W.E. Seeley of Clover, S.C., and W.C. Seeley of near Wakefield; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Ashbaugh, of Columbus, Ohio, and Mrs. Effie Chapman, of Fallen [sic; Fallon], Nevada; four grandchildren whom he raised, Clifton Seeley, of Finley, Ohio; Lee Seeley, of Ostrader, Ohio; Ralph E. Seeley, of Wakefield, and Mrs. Melvin A. Freeman, of Ivor; four stepsons, H.L. Grubbs, of Washington; C. B. Grubbs, of Elberon; M. E. Grubbs, of Richmond; and E.A. Grubbs, of Courtland; three step-daughters, Dorothy M. Grubbs, of Petersburg; Mrs. O.E. Barnes, of Spring Grove, and Mrs. H.O. Joyner, of Courtland; three other grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 at the Purviance Funeral Chapel. The Rev. H.H. Smith, Jr., pastor of the Washington Street Methodist Church, Petersburg, of which Mr. Seeley was a mem ber, officiated. He was assisted by the Rev. L.P. Bland, Rev. H.E. Crutchfield and Rev. Douglas Cotter. Burial was in Wakefield Cemetery. Pallbearers were B.B. Bowles, [torn] M. Ritchie, W.A. Beale, F. [torn; ?B]ranch, G.L. Munford, [torn] [torn] Clifton H.
