A native of Surry County, she was a member of Union Christian Church. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Charles S. Pitts of Goochland; two sons, R.J. Slade, Jr. of Richmond, and Kenneth J. Slade of Wakefield; two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Conway of Hopewell and Mrs. Russell Clarke of Florida; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, by the Rev. Dr. R.E. Brittle. Burial will be in Wakefield Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight in the funeral home, and request expression of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Surry County Rescue Squad.
