WILLIAM OSCAR SLADE 

  HOPEWELL - Jan. 9 - William O. Slade, 64, died Friday at the home of his 
sister, Mrs. P.I. Leadbetter, 205 North Twelfth Ave.  He was a native of Surry 
County and a retired merchant.  Besides Mrs. Leadbetter, he is survived by 
another sister, Mrs. B.V. Hargrave, Franklin.  Funeral rites will be conducted 
at 2 p.m. Sunday at Shanko-Gould Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Wakefield 
Cemetery, Wakefield.

b. 11 Apr 1888, Surry Co., d. 8 Jan 1953, at sister's home, Hopewell, 
interred in Wakefield Cemetery*, 10 Jan 1953,
