She was born in Wakefield, Va. on November 12, 1909 to the late Joel Henley and Irene Harris Presson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Thomas Swink, Sr.; a son, Earl Thomas Swink, Jr.; and a brother, Arthur L. Presson, Sr. She was a graduate of Longwood College and taught primary school in Suffolk, Va. from 1930 - 1939. She was a member of Blacksburg Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard Martin Swink, Sr. and Nancy Nissen Swink, King George, Va.; three grandchildren, Susan L. Swink, Niceville, Fla., Richard M. Swink, Jr. and Michael T. Swink, both of King George, Va.; a sister, Helen P. Johnson, Luray, Va. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 27, 2004 at 10 a.m. in the Blacksburg Presbyterian Church with Rev. Alex Evans and Rev. Susan Verbrugge officiating. Graveside services will be held later Friday at 2 p.m. in the Union Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Churchville, Va. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Louise P. Swink to the Earl Thomas Swink, Jr. Scholarship Fund, account #884498, payable to the Virginia Tech Foundation, 201 Pack Building, Blacksburg, Va. 24061. Friends may call any time after 12 noon Thursday, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
