RUTH STEWART SCARBOROUGH 

MRS. WALTER SCARBOROUGH 

  Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Stewart Scarborough, 37, who was killed 
Friday about 6:30 p.m. in a two-car collision at a secondary road intersection 
near Savedge Station, Surry County were held Sunday, August 30 at the 
Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield.  Burial was in Waverly Cemetery.

  A lifelong Surry County resident, she was a daughter of Mrs. Elsie Savedge 
Stewart of Dendron and the late J.S. Stewart and a member of Spring Grove 
Methodist Church.

  Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband, Walter C. Scarborough; 
two daughters, Mrs. D.P. Chamblee, Jr. of Surry and Miss Martha Kate 
Scarborough of Waverly; a brother, J. Shelton Stewart of Dendron; and a 
sister, Mrs. Jesse W. Hargrave of Wakefield.

  Pallbearers were: Rev. R. Creech, Jack Arnold, Basil Bryant, Richard Lyons, 
H.B. Holdsworth, Charles N. Branch, Bill Gaworshi and Allison Moore.
