MARGARET "MARGIE" SMITH TOWBERMAN 

  WAKEFIELD - Margaret "Margie" Smith Towberman, 68, passed away Sunday, 
March 2, 2003, at Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, Suffolk, Va.  She was 
born Nov. 7, 1934, in Farmville, Va., a daughter of the late Charlie Carl 
Smith Sr. and Mary Ella LaPrade Smith.  Margie was a dedicated and caring 
registered nurse and had retired from Louise Obici Memorial Hospital where 
she was affectionately known as "Toby".

  She had lived in Wakefield since 1961, was a member of the United Daughters 
of the Confederacy and a member of the Wakefield United Methodist Church.

  Margie leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Teresa T. Taranovich 
of Franklin, Penni T. Daugherty of Fredericksburg, Leslie T. Thomas of 
Mesquite, Texas, Viktoria Trginia of Wakefield; and four grandchildren, 
John M. Taranovich II, L. Danielle Taranovich, J. Matthew Padgett and L. 
Brooke Padgett.

  Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at Wakefield 
United Methodist Church, Wakefield, with the Rev. Dr. Jim Becker officiating. 
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday evening at 
Margie’s home in Wakefield.

  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia Society, 5511 
Staples Mill Road, Suite 105, Richmond, VA 23228.

Margie's son Frank Kenneth TOWBERMAN, Jr. (b. & d. 13 Jul 1957) is buried in 
   in Wakefield Cemetery.  Frank Sr. is marked there with his fourth[?] wife.
