Mrs. Thompson retired in 1972 after more than 30 years as a clerk at the W.S. Peebles Department Store in Waverly. A graduate of East Carolina State Teachers College, she formerly taught first grade in Surry County. She was a member of Waverly Baptist Church. Survived by three sisters, Janie H. Spiers and Louise H. Faison of Newport News and Mary H. Eure of Suffolk; and a brother, W. Eugene Hines of Annandale. Funeral at 2 p.m. Wednesday Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, by the Rev.
