BARBARA ANN GOODWIN TARDY 

  WAVERLY - Barbara Ann Goodwin, 46, a preschool teacher for three years at 
Tidewater Academy, Wakefield, died Wednesday, Feb. 16.

  Mrs. Goodwin was a native of Hampton and a member of the Waverly United 
Methodist Church and the choir.  She received a master’s degree in education 
from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1980.

  Survived by her husband, Michael John Tardy Sr.; two daughters, Kathryne 
Sarah Goodwin Tardy and Elizabeth Arlene Tardy of Waverly; two sons, Michael 
J. Tardy Jr. And Paul Franklin Tardy of Richmond; her mother, Elma [sic; Alma] 
Taylor Goodwin of Hampton; two sisters, Diane Robinson of Hampton and Elma 
Rice of Nebraska; two brothers, Morris R. Goodwin of Florida and Joel N. 
Goodwin III of Grafton; maternal grandmother, Kathryne Acree of Newport News; 
paternal [sic; maternal] grandfather, Herman B. Doughty of New Jersey.

  Visitation from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield. 
Funeral 11 a.m. Saturday at Waverly United Methodist Church by the Rev. Randy 
McMillen.  Burial in Wakefield Cemetery.  Memorials to Tidewater Academy, 
P.O. Box 536, Wakefield 23888; or American Lung Association, 311 South Blvd., 
Richmond 23220.
