Mrs. Goodwin was a native of Hampton and a member of the Waverly United Methodist Church and the choir. She received a master’s degree in education from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1980. Survived by her husband, Michael John Tardy Sr.; two daughters, Kathryne Sarah Goodwin Tardy and Elizabeth Arlene Tardy of Waverly; two sons, Michael J. Tardy Jr. And Paul Franklin Tardy of Richmond; her mother, Elma [sic; Alma] Taylor Goodwin of Hampton; two sisters, Diane Robinson of Hampton and Elma Rice of Nebraska; two brothers, Morris R. Goodwin of Florida and Joel N. Goodwin III of Grafton; maternal grandmother, Kathryne Acree of Newport News; paternal [sic; maternal] grandfather, Herman B. Doughty of New Jersey. Visitation from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield. Funeral 11 a.m. Saturday at Waverly United Methodist Church by the Rev. Randy McMillen. Burial in Wakefield Cemetery.
