TUCKER THORNTON Jehovah’s Witness Mrs. Eunice D. Tucker Thornton, 59, of 104 South St., Wakefield, Va., died Saturday, May 29, 2010, at Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, Va. Mrs. Thornton was born July 8, 1950, the first born of nine children to the late Willie Tucker Sr. and Mrs. Eunice Booker Tucker of Ivor. She was a cashier at Wagon Wheel in Ivor and Chuck’s Supermarket in Wakefield, as well as a homemaker. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witness in 1976, went out in field service and conducted Bible studies. She aided Mrs. Vizell Turner in the truth, who was later baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witness. Mrs. Thornton is preceded in death by her parents; also Willie Tucker Jr. and Gloria Eley. She is survived by her husband, Lowell Thornton Sr.; one son, Lowell Thornton Jr. of Chester; two brothers, Darnell Tucker (Patsy) of Portsmouth and Andrew Lee Tucker (Brenda) of Suffolk; four sisters, Shirley Brodie of Surry, Phyliss Fields (David) of Philadelphia, Carolyn Edwards (Willis) of Ivor and Clarris Thompson (Matthew) of Henrico; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, inlaws, other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 3, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, 442 Coppahaunk Ave., Waverly, with Brother Temple Holdsworth officiating. Interment will follow in the Wakefield Cemetery. A visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, at the Kingdom Hall.
