THOMAS BRYAN WHITMORE 

  DENDRON - Thomas Bryan Whitmore Sr., 63, retired automobile salesman, died 
Saturday night in a Suffolk hospital after seven-weeks' illness.

  He was a native of Surry County and the son of Tom G. and Mrs. Minnie Faison 
Whitmore.  He was a former member of Dendron Town Council, a post he held for 
18 years.  He was a member of Union Christian Church and charter member of the 
Blackwater Sportsman Club of Surry County.

  He is survived by Mrs. Irene Clarke Whitmore; a son Thomas B. Whitmore, Jr. 
of West Point; two brothers, Joseph W. Whitmore of Suffolk and Everett 
Whitmore of Jarratt; four sisters, Mrs. Hilda W. Glazebrook of Newport News, 
Mrs. R.J. Slade, Sr. of Dendron, Mrs. Hodman Conway of Hopewell and Mrs. J.R. 
Clarke of Richmond; and three grandchildren.

  A funeral service will be conducted today at 2:30 p.m. in Purivance Funeral 
Chapel, Wakefield by the Rev. R.E. Brittle of Bethlehem Christian Church and 
the Rev. E.R. Alexie of Surry Methodist Church.  Burial will be in Hillcrest 
Cemetery, Wakefield.
