Alvah "Al" Herrin Wills, Jr., 66, of Wakefield passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 11, 2014 with his family by his side. Al was a member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church and a former member of the Wakefield Volunteer Fire Department. He drove a truck for over 40 years, retiring from Murphy Brown. Al was preceded in death by his father, Alvah Herrin Wills, Sr. and his wife, Dorothy Juanita "Nita" Wills. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Brian Wills and wife, Pam, Michael Wills and fiancé, Rena and Jesse Wills; grandchildren, Brian Wills, Jr., Courtney Wills and Will Garrett; mother, Alice Nell Branch Wills; sisters, Brenda W. Bryant and Robin Wills; brothers, Barry D. Wills and Larry D. Wills; brothers-in-law, Tommy Jones and wife, Wanda and Shelton Jones and wife, Gail; several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Tink. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 13, 2014 at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Wakefield Chapel 11414 General Mahone Hwy., Wakefield, VA 23888 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, March 14, 2014 at the funeral home with Rev. Steve Bradshaw officiating. Burial will follow at the Wakefield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Wakefield Volunteer Fire Department, 155 Fleetwood Ave., Wakefield, VA 23888.
