Marriage Contract - Joseph Goodwyn & Jane Robinson 1794 (Deed Book H, page 279, Sussex Co.VA.) Articles of a Marriage Contract entered in and agreed to this 23 day of August one thousand seven hundred and ninety foure BETWEEN Joseph Goodwyn of Dinwiddie County of the one part and Jane Robinson of Sussex County of the other part WITNESSETH that the said Jane Robinson being of sound mind and memory dooth hereby agree to intermarry with the said Joseph Goodwyn on the folllowing terms viz. that is the said Joseph Goodwyn dooth hereby agree to give up all right claim or title that he may or shall have to the Land that belongs to the said Jane Robinson likewise one half of the Negroes belonging to her also one half of all the residue of the estate be it what kind or quality soever except the Bonds due to him them he claims. These Articles entered in and agreed to by each of us and given from under each of our hands and Seal the day and year above written.
