Marriage Register 1842-1850, Reference 1845-15 and Reference 1845-15A) December 15,1845 This is to certify to the clerk of Sussex that I do agree to join Francis J. Pleasants in matrimony and that the clerk of Sussex is also legally authorized to issue a license to that effect. Maria E. Little (Reference 1845-15) Know all men by these presents, that we Francis J. Pleasants and Joseph Parsons are held and firmly bound unto the Commonwealth of Virginia, in the just and full sum of one hundred and fifty dollars, to be paid to the said Commonwealth: for the payment whereof, well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, and administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents.Sealed with our Seals, and dated this 16th day of December 1845. The condition of the above obligation is such, that whereas a marriage is shortly intended to be held, and solemnized between the above bound Francis J. Pleasants and Maria E. Little of the county of Sussex. Now if there be no lawful cause to obstruct the said marriage, then the above obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue. Francis J.
