Marriage Record of Benjamin Rideout and Eliza Rashal(or Rachael)
(Sussex County, VA. Marriage Register 1842-1850,

To the Clerk of Sussex County:
This is to certify that I have consented to a marriage with Mr. 
Benjamin Rideout and he is Therefore authorized to obtain a license 
for the same according to law.
Given under my hand this 17th day of November 1848. Miss Eliza 
Rashal

Know all men by these presents, that we Benjamin Rideout and William
B. Saunders are held and firmly bound unto the Commonwealth of
Virginia, in the just and full sum of one hundred and fifty dollars,
to be paid to the said Commonwealth: for the payment whereof, well
and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, and
administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents.
Sealed with our Seals, and dated this 18th day of November 1848.
The condition of the above obligation is such, that whereas a 
marriage is shortly intended to be held, and solemnized between
the above bound Benjamin Ridout and Eliza Rachael of the county 
of Sussex. Now if there be no lawful cause to obstruct the said
marriage, then the above obligation to be void, otherwise to
remain in full force and virtue.

NOTE: The Spelling "Rideout" & "Ridout" is not a typographical 
error, the consent form by Miss "Rashal" gave the name as "Rideout, 
while the form filled out by the County Clerk spelled the name 
"Ridout", and also gave the surname of the bride as "Rachael".
