Will of Abidan Bailey - 1796
(Will Book E, page 436, Sussex Co.VA.)

I Abidan Bailey of Sussex County do make and ordain this to be my last
Will and Testament in manner and form following.
1st. I lend the use of my land and plantation whereon I now live to my
wife Elizabeth Bailey during her life and give to her all the houshold
goods of every kind and quality which she prosest before we were 
married to be at her disposel.
2d. I give to my Son David Bailey ten pounds cash to be raised out of
my estate in lew of giving him land to him and his heirs forever.
3d. I give and bequeth unto my Son Daniel Bailey a tract of land which
I bought of William Hargrave containing by estimation one hundred acres
be the same more or less to him & his heirs forever.
4th. I give to my Son Josiah Bailey at the deth of my wife the land and
plantation above lent to her containing by estimation one hundred &
fifteen acres be the same more or less to him & his heirs forever.
5th. I give to my daughter Martha Bailey one fether bed and furniture 
to her and her heirs forever.
6th. I give to my daughter Margret Bailey one fether bed & furniture to
her and her heirs forever.
7th. I give to my daughter Elizabeth Bailey one fether bed & firnature
to her and her heirs forever.
LASTLY I leave all the remainder and residue of my estate of every kind
to be equaly divided amongst my seven children namely Rebecah, David,
Daniel, Josiah, Martha, Margret & Elizabeth which I give to them and
their heirs forever. I nominate and appoint my two Sons David Bailey
and Daniel Bailey and Joshua Bailey the hole and sole executors of this
my last Will & Testament.
IN WITNESS whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirteenth
day of the seventh month in the year seventeen hundred & ninety six.

At a Court held for Sussex County the 6th day of October 1796.
The last Will and testament of Abidan Bailey decd. was presented into 
Court by Daniel Bailey one of the executors therein named the same was 
proved by the affirmation of James Bailey,James Watkins and Sarah Brock 
three of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded, on motion of 
said executor who made affirmation and gave bond & security agreeably 
to law Certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in
due form.
