IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I James Cooper of the Parish of Abemarle in the County of Sussex being of sound and disposing mind and memory thanks be to Almighty God for the same and calling to mind the certainty of Death and uncertainty of this transtory Life do make constitute and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following That is to say I first recommend my Soul to him that gave it and laslay commend my Body to the Earth to be decently buryed at the decretion of my Executors hereafter mentioned and as for my Wordly goods wherewith it hath please God to bles me with after my just depts is paid I give and dispose of as follows. IMPRIMIS I give and leave all my lands and plantation whereon I now live to be equally devided between my two Sons Howell and Drury Cooper there being by estamation two hundred and fifty acres. ITEM. My will and desire is that my Son Drury Cooper should keep that part of my land which he now lives on and that it my be laid of or devided between him and my Son Howel Cooper in the same manner and on the same lines as it was in my former will which was wrote by Colo. David Mason In the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty seven I say I give my land to my two sons to them and their heirs and assigns forever. ITEM. I allso give and bequeath to my Daughter Unisa Barker One Loomb and gare Harness etc. ITEM. I also give and bequeath to my Grandson Edwin Cooper son of Drury Cooper One Bed and Furniture to him, his heirs and assigns forever. ITEM. All the rest of my Estate whatsoever except what I have not allready wild or given away I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Elizabeth Cooper to dispose of as she may Judge or think proper and my will and desire is that my Estate may not be appraised and that whatever goods or chattels or any other thing any of my children may or shall have in there possession at my death thay shall in titled to. AND LASTLY I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my Loving Wife Elizabeth Cooper and my Sons Howell and Drury Cooper whole and sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making null and voyd all former wills and perquesets etc. In Witnss whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my Seal this 13th the day of January One thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty one. The last Will and Testament of James Cooper deced. was exhibited in Court by Drury Cooper one of the Executors therein named proved by the oath of James Battle one of the Witnesses thereto who also deposed that he saw the other witnesses sence dead subscribe their names as witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of the said Executor who made oath according to law and with James Battle and John Scott his securities entered into and acknowledged their bond in the penalty of one thousand pounds conditioned as the law directs Certificate is granted him for obtaining probate thereof in due form.
