Item. First I direct that my Negroes should be divided amongst my children as follows to wit: I give to my son, John James, my two Negroes Will & David to him & his heirs forever Item, I give to my son Enos James 2 Negroes, Fanne & her child Judah to him & his heirs forever. I give to my Daughter Anna Gardner one negro girl named Vilett to her & her heirs forever. I give to my daughter, Elizabeth Gardner, one Negro Girl named Rose provided her husband John Gardner delivers to my daughter Susannah James one Negro Girl named Cloe which is now living with my daughter Elizabeth Gardner but as aforesaid if the said Husband of my daughter Elizabeth should refuse to let my said Daughter Susannah James have the said girl Cloe, then my desire is that Susannah James should have my Negro girl Rose to her & her heirs forever. Item. I give to my son, Emanual James one Negro boy named Dan to him & his heirs forever I give to my daughter Susannah James one Negro girl named Cloe which is now living with my daughter, Elizabeth I leave my lands to be sold at Public Auction, & the money arising thereby to be equally divided amongst my three sons, viz: John James, Enos James & Emanuel James. I leave all the remainder of my estate be it in whatsover kind to be equally divided amonst my Six children Viz: John James, Enos James, Annah Gardner, Elizabeth Gardner, Susannah James & Emanuel James to them and their heirs forever. I appoint my two sons, John James & Enos James whole & sole Executors of this my last Will & Testament & I do sign, & seal the same Emanuel James In presence of Caleb Ellis, Isaac Ellis,John Jordan, Cabeb Ellis At court held for Sussex Co the 20 day of Jan 1784, the last will & testament of Emanuel James, dec'd was exhibited in court by Enos James an Executor therein named proved by the oaths of Isaac Ellis & John Jordan witnesses unto & ordered to be recorded and the motion of the said Executor who made oath according to Law & with Richard Andrews & John Lamb Jr his securities entered into & acknowledged their bond in the penalty of Five Thousand pounds conditioned as the Law direct.
