IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN the 25th day of August in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred & seventy I Holliday Fort of Sussex County being sick & weak but of sound & disposing mind & memory thanks be to almighty God for the same & calling to mind the certainty of death & the uncertainty of this transitory life do make constitute & ordain this my last Will & Testament in manner following that is to say first & principally I recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it me, hope & believe in my blessed redeemer Jesus Christ for Salvation and as for my body I recommend it to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named and as for my worldly goods wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with I give & dispose of in manner following. IMPRIMIS I give & bequeath unto my Loving Wife Lucrecy Fort one feather bed & furniture, which bed I now lie on, one grey horse Buck one side saddle & bridle, three head of cattle, three ewes, one sow & piggs, six pewter plates that are now in use two pewter dishes, one flat one the smallest kind, and the other a deep dish six pewter spoons, one iron pott & pott hooks the least of my potts five middle sized hoggs, twenty five barrels of corn, and all her Dunghill & other fowls on my plantation one chest called her's a table made for her, a box iron & heaters all which I give unto my said Wife in full consideration of her right of dower, in my estate. ITEM. I give unto my loving Son Elias Fort to be made out of my personal estate by my Executors hereafter named the sum of twenty five pounds current money, ten pounds of which to be paid to Jones Cornett who is to take the care & management of my said Son and is to bring him up to the Taylors Business, and I also give & bequeath unto my said son Elias Fort my tract or parcel of land which I bought of Frances Aldridge being one hundred Acres be the same more or less, Also an entry I made for fifty acres adjoining the said tract of land above mentioned, all which said land I give unto my said Son Elias Fort his heirs & assigns forever. ITEM. My will & desire is that all the rest & residue of my personal estate not heretofore given & by me bequeathed, be sold by my Executors and the money arising by the said sale (after paying the legacy to my son Elias Fort) be equally divided amongst my other children namely, Robert, Flake, Florina, Faithy Franky, Phillis Lena & Mason, or the survivers of them, or the legall representatives of them. AND LASTLY, I do nominate & appoint my loving Son Fred. Fort & John Fort & Nathaniel Jackson & my Loving Friend David Mason Executors of this my last Will & Testament, hereby revoking & making null & void all former wills & bequests by me heretofore made and allowing ratifying & confirming this & no other to be my last Will & Testament, In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal the day & year first above written. The last Will & Testament of Holliday Fort deced. was presented into Co'. by David Mason & Fred. Fort Executors therein named who made oath thereto as the law directs, and the same was proved by the oath of James Adams a witness thereto, and by the Co'. ordered to be recorded, and on the motion of said Executors Certificate is granted them for obtaining a probate thereof in due form.
