Also listed is the estate inventory of his father, THOMAS HUNT, SR. who died in 1811. DR. HENRY GREEN HUNT (1811-1897) who was the son of Thomas lived at "KINGSTON" in DINWIDDIE COUNTY later in his life.* *This information was provided by GARY WILLIAMS, Clerk of Court, Sussex County, Va. In the name of God, Amen: I THOMAS HUNT of the County of Sussex State of Virginia, being weak in body, but sound and disposing memory, do make this my last will and testament. ITEM 1st: I give and bequeath unto my wife HANNAH HUNT, one feather bed and furniture, one bureau, carriage and horses, and an anuity one hundred & fifty dollars to be paid yearly, and equally, by my son HENRY G. HUNT, and my daughters SARAH W. EPPES, and MARY J. PARHAM, so long as my wife lives. And I also lend my wife HANNAH HUNT, Hannah, (a slave I bought of Jas: B. JARRATT)dd. and her increase, as long as my said wife shall live and at her death, my will and desire is, that the aforesaid slave HANNAH and her increase, shall descend to the children of MARY J. PARHAM to them and their heirs forever. ITEM 2d: I give and bequeath to my daughter SARAH W. EPPES all the negroes & other property advanced her, before the death of her former husband THOMAS J. EPPES, to her and her heirs forever. Also the plantation called PARHAM STORE which I bought of WILLIAM PARHAM, also, one thousand two hundred dollars, Factory stock, in the ETTRICKS, manufactoring company, Also six hundred dollars in money, to be paid her in equal moities, by my son HENRY G. HUNT, and my daughter MARY J. PARHAM, to her and her heirs. ITEM 3d: I give and bequeath unto my son HENRY G. HUNT the lands and plantation from which I removed, calld. wood lands. Also One hundred and seventy acres of land adjoining, being the land purchased of ALEXANDER P. SMITH and the lands purchased of JNO. GIBBON and the children of ED. GIBBON also a piece of land purchased of JAS. L. PARHAM and another piece also that was formerly SAM: GILLIAM'S called the gun spring, and bound on the north by Green Church Rd and south by Nottoway River, to him and his heirs forever. I also give to my son HENRY G. HUNT, the following slaves with their increase, to wit, EASTER, BETSEY, WILEY, JIM, JONAH, MIRANDA and TELFAIN, to him and his heirs forever. I also loaned him for during my life to be returned at my death and divided with the residue of my estate not specially given away. ITEM 4th: I give and bequeath unto my daughter MARY J. PARHAM, the plantation on which I now reside, purchased of JAS. B. COCK, also the land recd. of MARK M. HARWELL in exchange for a part of the said mansion tract, and two and seventy acres being more or less of the tract of l and called AUNT LUCY'S. And also the following slaves to wit BOOKER, HANNAH, FED, VIRG, CAROLINE, ANNABELLA, PETE, ELLEN, and JOE, and their increase to her and her heirs forever. ITEM 5th: I give to my grandson THOMAS HUNT a negro boy called HENRY. ITEM 6th: I give to my grandson THO. HUNT PARHAM one negro boy JOHN. ITEM 5th: My will and desire is that all the residue of my estate of every kind and description be divided equally between my three children, SARAH W. EPPES, HENRY G. HUNT and MARY J. PARHAM. ITEM 6th: I constitute and appoint my son HENRY G. HUNT, Executor of my last will and testament and it my desire he should qually(?) without giving security. IN WITNESS whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this the eleventh of April 1845. TH: HUNT (SEAL) Witness JNO: P. HARDAWAY JOHN COLE WM: WYATT at a Court held for Sussex County the 1st. day of May 1845. The last Will and Testament of THOMAS HUNT decd. was presented into Court and proved by the oaths of JOHN HARDAWAY, JOHN COLE, AND WILLIAM WYATT, the three subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of HENRY G. HUNT, the Executor therein named, who made oath and entered into bond according to law certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form.
