In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Hunt Sen'r. of the County of Sussex being weak in body but of sound disposing mind and memory do make and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following. First I recommend my Soul to God who gave it me and my body to the Earth to be decently buried in a Christian like manner and as touching such worldly goods as it has pleased God to bless me with I dispose of them in the following manner viz't. Item. I give and bequeath to my Sons John, Thomas, and Wilkins J. Hunt and my Daughter Patsey Gilliam all the Slaves before given and now in their Possession together with their increase to them and their heirs forever. Item. I lend unto my Daughter Lucy Vaughan during her natural life the following Slaves viz't. Lydia, Molley, Nancy, Jim & Daniel and their increase, and at her death I give and bequeath the said Slaves Lydia, Molley, Nancy, Jim and Daniel and their increase to my two grand Sons Thomas Harwell, and Mark Harwell to be equally divided between them their heirs or assigns to them and their heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath to my Daughter Patsey Gilliam after the death of my wife one hundred pounds current money of Virginia to her and her heirs forever. Item. I lend unto my beloved wife Dorothy Hunt during her natural life the Land and plantation whereon I now live and all the pieces or parcels of Land which I am now seized and possessed of and all the rest and residue of my Estate not already disposed of both real and personal and after the death of my wife my will and desire is that all my lands be sold and the money arising from the sale thereof, together with all the rest and residue of my Estate and the increase thereof both real and personal lent my wife may be disposed of as hereafter directed. Item. I give and bequeath from and after the death of my wife to my Son Thomas Hunt Jun'r. in trust for the exclusive benefit of my Daughter Lucy Vaughan during her natural life one hundred pounds current money of Virginia and one Equal fifth part of the money from the sale of my Lands and one Equal fifth part of the rest and residue of my Estate lent my wife and its increase both real and personal to be given her in such proportions and at such times as to him shall appear meet and proper, and at the death of my said Daughter Lucy Vaughan my will and desire is that upon the terms and conditions hereto annexed that all the Estate given my Son Thomas Hunt in Trust for the benefit of my said Daughter remaining in his hands at her death may be equally divided between my grand Children Salley P. Vaughan, Robert H. Vaughan, Eaton Vaughan and Dorothy Vaughan Children of my Daughter Lucy Vaughan provided that at the death or Imediately thereafter of my Daughter Lucy Vaughan the Negroes I have lent her during her life and then given and bequeathed to my grand sons Thomas E. Harwell and Mark Harwell to wit, Lydia, Molly, Nancy, Jim, and Daniel and their increase shall be delivered to them their heirs or assigns or to their proper Guardian for their benefit and they their heirs Executors Adm'rs. or Assigns Suffered Peaceably and quietly to have hold possess and enjoy them and their increase forever, but if they shall be claimed retained or by Law recovered by any person claiming under my Daughter Lucy in consequence of her intermarriage with Robert Vaughan and her having them in her possession at that time then in that case my will and desire is the Estate remaining in the hands of my Son Thomas Hunt as Trustee in Trust for the benefit of my Daughter Lucy at her death may be equally divided Between Thomas E. Harwell and Mark Harwell to them and their heirs for- ever instead of my grand Children Salley P. Vaughan, Robert H. Vaughan, Eaton Vaughan and Dorothy Vaughan. Item. My will and desire is that the remaining four fifths of the money arising from the sale of my Lands and the rest and residue of my Estate Lent my wife may be equally divided between my Children, John Hunt, Thomas Hunt, Martha Gilliam and Wilkins J. Hunt to them and their heirs forever. Item. Lastly I constitute and appoint my sons John, Thomas and Wilkins J. Hunt Executors of this my last Will and Testament. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this third day of August one thousand eight hundred and Eleven. Thomas Hunt Sen'r. The last Will and Testament of Thomas Hunt Sen'r. was presented into Court by Thomas Hunt Jun'r. one of the ex'ors. therein named the same was proved by the oaths of the three subscribing witnesses and ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of said Ex'or. who made oath and gave bond and security agreeable Law Certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form. Teste J.C.
