Will of Thomas Ivey(Will Book K, page 406, Sussex Co.VA.) I Thomas Ivey having a disposing mind and memory do make this my last Will and Testament. I give to Charles Ivey Son of George Ivey one thousand dollars. I give to Norfleet Ivey Son of Henry Ivey one thousand dollars. (NOTE: There was nothing else in this Will & no signature or seal) At a Court held for Sussex County the 7th day of September 1826 a paper purporting to be the last Will and Testament of Thomas Ivey dec'd was presented into Court and there being no subscribing witnesses thereto Nathaniel Cargill was sworn and examined who deposed that the said Thomas Ivey acknowledged the said paper to be his Last Will and Testament whereupon the Court after mature consideration is of opinion that the said paper is the Last Will and Testament of the said Thomas Ivey and order the same to be recorded as such. And on the motion of George Ivey who made oath and entered into bond with security according to Law Administration on the said estate with the Will annexed is granted him in due form.
