I, THOMAS PATE being weak in body though in perfect mind & memory thanks be to God for the same I do constiture & appoint this my last Will & Testament in manner & form following, I give my sole to Almighty God who gave it me and body the Earth to be buried at the discretion of my Executors, and as to my worldly Estate. I give device & bequeath in manner following viz IMPRIMIS I give & bequeath unto my son JOHN PATE the land & plantation whereon he now lives containing fifty acres more or less to him & his heirs forever. ITEM I give & bequeath unto my son EDWARD PATE land & plantation where I now lives containing one hundred & fifty acres more or less to him & his heirs forever. I likewise give & bequeath to my son EDWARD PATE all my working tools, together also my property of a cross cut saw to him & his heirs forever, also my hand mill I give & bequeath to my son EDWARD to him & his heirs forever. ITEM I give & bequeath unto my son EDMUND PATE five shillings sterling to him & his heirs forever. ITEM I give & bequeath to my daughter ELIZABETH FREEMAN five shillings sterling to her & her heirs forever. ITEM I give & bequeath unto my Granddaughter MOLLY JONES Daughter of JOHN & SARAH JONES the feather bed & furniture which my daughter SARAH JONES have now in keeping to her and her heirs forever. ITEM I lend unto my loving wife the residue of my Estate of all kinds whatsoever during her natural life or widowhood and after decease to equally divided between my four younger children, JOHN, THOMAS & EDWARD PATE & SARAH JONES I constitute & appoint my two sons JOHN & THOMAS PATE Executors of this my last Will & Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my Seal this 22 day of February 1773. The last Will & Testament of THOMAS PATE deceased was presented into Court by JOHN PATE one of the Executors therein named who made oath thereto as the law directs and the same was proved by oaths of BENJAMIN ADAMS & JOHN PRINCE two of the witenesses thereto and by the court ordered to be recorded and on the motion of the said Exer.
