IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I William Rogers of Sussex County in Virginia being weak in body but of perfect sense & memory thanks be to Almighty God do therefore make & ordain this my Last Will & Testament in manner following. First I Bequeath my soul to God my creator who gave it & my Body I commit to the Earth from whence it was taken & as to my worldly Goods which it has pleas'd God to bestow on me I give as followeth viz. ITEM. I give & bequeath to my Son William Rogers & to his Heirs forever the Land & Plantation whereon he now lives also the Bed & furniture which he has now in possession. ITEM. I give & bequeath to my Son Benjamin Rogers & to his heirs forever Three Hundred Acres of Land Whereon he now lives Bounded as followeth Begining on Coppohaunk Swamp at a new line Tree thence along a new line to the corner of his fence thence along the old line to the Colledge line & so Encluding all the land in my Bounds containing three hundred Acres More or less together with what I have already given him likewise all my wearing Cloaths. ITEM. I give & bequeath to Joseph Rogers son of Reubin Rogers & to his Heirs forever one hundred acres of Land Bounded as followeth to wit begining on Coppohaunk Swamp at the Colledge line thence along the said line to a Corner tree between the said Lands & thence along my old line to Benjamin Rogers from thence along a new line to Coppohaunk Swamp up the said Swamp to the Begining. ITEM. I give & bequeath to my loving Wife Prudence Rogers one Feather Bed & furniture During her Natural life likewise my will & Desire is that my said wife should have all provision now provided & also my two Cattle During her natural Life. ITEM. I give & bequeath all the rest & remainder of my Estate which I have not already Given & bequeath to be Equally Divided between my loving wife my son Benjamin Rogers & my Daughter Prissilla Barrach the wife of George Barrach. ITEM. I do hereby Ordain Constitute & Appoint my son Benjamin Rogers my whole & sole Executor of this my last Will & Testament in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & Seal this Twenty seventh Day of September One thousand Seven hundred & sixty six. William Rogers (L.S.) Segl'd and Seal'd In Presence of} Test Caleb Ellis Emanuel James John James My will & Desire is that there should be no Appraisement ond my Estate. At A Court held for Sussex County the 19th Day of October 1769. The last Will & Testament of William Rogers deced. was duly proved by the Oath of Caleb Ellis & Emanuel James two of the witnesses thereto & At another Court held for The said County the 18th day of October 1770. Benjamin Rogers the executor named in the said last Will & Testament appeared in Court & made Oath thereto as the law directs & the said last Will & Testament was thereupon Order'd to be recorded & on the motion of the said Benjamin Certificate is granted him for obtaining a Probate thereof in due form.
