In the name of God Amen I Allen Sturdivant of Sussex County being Sick and weak in body but of sound mind and memory praised be God for the same do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following first I recommend my soul to God who gave it me and my body to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executors hereafter named and as Touching such Worldly Goods as it hath pleased God to bless me with I dispose thereof in the following manner viz't. Imp'rs. I give and bequeath unto Miss Citty Curtis one feather Bed and furniture and ten pounds lawful money of Virginia to her and her heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Judith all the residue of my Estate of every kind to her and her heirs forever. Item. and lastly I hereby nominate and appoint my loving wife Judith Executrix and my friend Stith Parham Executors of this my last Will and Testament revoking all other Wills by me heretofore made and declareing this and this only to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 2nd day of November 179 Eight. Allen Sturdivant (seal) Signed Sealed and acknowledged In presence of- Stith Parham Thomas Parham Gabriel Moss At a Court held for Sussex County the 7th day of February 1799. The last Will and Testament of Allen Sturdivant deceased was presented into Court by Judith Sturdivant the executrix therein named and proved by the oaths of Stith Parham and Thomas Parham two of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be Recorded and on the motion of said executrix who made oath and entered into bond and security in the penalty of Two Thousand dollars conditioned as the Law directs certificate is granted her for obtaining a probate thereof in due form.
