Will of James Sammons (Will Book B, page 64, Sussex Co.VA.) IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I JAMES SAMMONS of Albemarle Parish in the County of Sussex being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind & disposing memory thanks be to Almignty God for the same, do make and ordain this my last will & Testament in manner and form following, that is to say, first and principally I bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it me and my body I commit to the earth to be buried in a Christian like manner and my worldly estate I give and dispose of the same manner and following vizt. ITEM I give and bequeath to my Daughter AVEY SAMMONS to her and her heirs forever one feather bed & furniture. ITEM I give and bequeath to my beloved wife PHILLIS SAMMONS all the rest of my estate let it be of what kind or quallity soever to her and her heirs forever. ITEM My will and desire is that my Estate be not appraised. LASTLY I do nominate and appoint my son WILLIAM SAMMONS whole and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament disanulling and making void all former wills by me heretofore made In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this thirty first day of January in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty Five.
