At the end of the Apocrypha is a blank half-page upon which are written three names with birth dates. These were the three children of William Floyd McGuire (1841- 1923) and Angeline Phillips (1848-1911) of Tazewell County, VA. It is noteworthy that William Floyd was a grandson of Rev. William McGuire and Margaret Brown.] Theracy Bell McGuire was born December 1st 1867 Charley McGuire was born May 19th 1870 Emily Jane McGuire Was born August 12th 1872 Additional Comments: Transcriber’s Notes: The Bible is in the possession of Margaret Jolene (“Peggy”) Sheets Palmer of Woodstock, GA. It was given to her by her uncle, Roy Elswick, of Tazewell County, Virginia. He told her that the book had come from the estate of a deceased Tazewell businessman who had been an avid collector of old books. Peggy thinks the Bible was owned earlier by her grandfather, James Floyd McGuire (1893-1971), of Tazewell County, who was a descendant of Reverend William McGuire (c. 1779-1862) and Margaret Brown (c. 1784-c. 1855), both of Tazewell County. Margaret Brown’s parents are thought to have been James Brown and Esther (Goff?). James and Esther had at least eleven children, as named in his will (probated in 1814, Tazewell Co. VA, Will Book 1, page 73). Among the named children was a son, James (born c. 1791) in Virginia. Peggy Palmer suspects that this is the James Brown named in the family records section of the Bible. The three births listed on the last page are those of the children of William Floyd McGuire (1841-1923) and Angeline Phillips (1848-1911) who lived on Pounding Mill Branch in Tazewell County. They were the grandparents of the James Floyd McGuire mentioned above. Each page containing family history is written in different handwriting and apparently at different times.
