Johnston 8th Mar 1847 William Smith Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia: To all to whom these Presents shall come--Greeting: KNOW YE, That in conformity with a survey made on the Seventeenth day of March one thousand eight hundred and forty five by virtue of Land Office Treasury Warrant No. 2632, there is granted by the said Commonwealth, unto William Barnes, a certain Tract or Parcel of Land, containing fifteen acres lying and being in the County of Tazewell In the maiden spring Cove. and bounded as follows: Beginning at a Buckeye corner to Col. Robert Gillispie and with the same S 63 E 42 poles to a cucumber and white oak on a Spur of Clinch Mountain Col Harry Smiths corner East 40 poles to a Sugar, Ironwood and Chesnut on a Spur of Clinch mountain supposed to be where Col Smith's corner stood S 31 E 34 poles to a maple chesnut and Sourwood on the West side of a Spur Then leaving Smith's line N 7 W 70 poles to a beech corner to the land B____ purchased of Basham S 65 W 2L crossing a branch to an ash plump corner to said Barn's old tract and with the same N 34 W 46 poles to the beginning with its appurtenances TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said Tract or Parcel of Land, with its appurtenances, to the said William Barnes and his heirs forever. In Witness Whereof, the said William Smith Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hath hereunto set his hand, and caused the Lesser Seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed, at Richmond, on the first day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty seven and of the Commonwealth the Seventy first.
