This Indenture made the 25th day of February in the year of 
Christ 1851 between George W. Deskins and Myrinda his wife of 
Tazewell County of the first part and Thomas Brown of the County 
and state aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said 
George W. Deskins and Myrinda his wife for and in consideration 
of the sum of one hundred dollars to them in hand paid the 
receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and 
sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the 
said Thomas Brown all their rights titles and claim that they 
have in two tracts of land lying in Tazewell County on the waters 
of Dismal which is a branch of Sandy River one of which tracts 
contains two hundred and forty five acres be the same more or 
less and bounded as followeth To Wit: Beginning at two spruce 
pines on the south side of said Creek at the mouth of a branch 
opposite the round bottom S76 E 270 poles to a spruce pine S 46 E 
48 poles to a beach N 50 and E 16 poles to a sugar tree North 20 
poles to a spruce pine N 63 W 40 poles to a double beach N 40 W 
32 poles to a spruce pine N 21 W 40 poles to a poplar 50 W 34 
poles to a maple and spruce pine West 58 poles to a Spruce pine 
on the bank of the creek N 37 W 18 poles to two white oaks and a 
poplar in a hollow N 67 W 44 poles to a white oak and dogwood on 
hillside S 72 W 71 poles to a sugar tree N 81 W 54 poles to a 
maple and spruce pine S 72 W 26 to a birch and pine S 86 W 44 
poles to a chestnut S 73 W 20 poles to a birch N 53 W 40 poles to 
a sugar tree N 8 W 26 poles to a double birch on the bank of the 
creek at the lower end of the long bottom N 65 W 20 poles to a 
chestnut N 32 W 84 poles to a spruce pine at the foot of a hill N

to a sugar tree at the lower end of the sugar bottom East 32 
poles to a beach N 5 E 140 poles to a stake thence S 84 E 380 
poles to the beginning. The other tract containing 98 acres more 
or less and bounded as follows To Wit: Beginning at a white oak 
and sugar tree just below the old survey of 245 acres survey 
mentioned on a hillside S 49 W 98 poles to a white oak on the 
same hillside N 58 W 40 poles to a cucumber N 34 W 42 poles to a 
beach N 86 W 11 poles to a red oak S 41 W 8 poles to a beach and 
spruce pine S 18 E 23 poles to a beach S 30 E 79 poles to an ash 
on a hillside and S 50 E 20 poles to a white oak S 33 W 60 poles 
to a spruce pine in the edge of the dry fork of Dismal S 51 W 30 
poles up said fork to a beach S 5 W 30 to a spruce pine on the 
bank of said creek S 84 E 34 poles crossing said creek to a 
spruce pine N 34 E 60 poles to a buckeye on a hillside N 55 E 60 
poles to a lynn in a rocky hollow N 13 E 38 poles to a cucumber 
and beach N 65 E 30 poles to a sugar tree N 33 E 69 poles to the 
Beginning which two tracts was the property of Hezekiah Whitt who 
died without disposing of said land And the said George W. 
Deskins having bought a share which is one seventh part of said 
tract from Griffy Whitt who was one of the heirs of said Hezekiah 
Whitt which interest one seventh part of the two tracts the said 
George W. Deskins and Myrinda his wife hereby sell and convey to 
the said Thomas Brown To have and to hold the seventh part in the 
two tracts to the sole use and benefit of him the said Thomas 
Brown and his heirs forever And the said George W. Deskins and 
Myrinda his wife for themselves and their heirs warrant and 
defend the right title claim and possession of the seventh part 
of two hundred and forty five acres survey to be from the claims 
of all persons unto said Thomas Brown and his heirs forever and 
they warrant and defend the right and title the 7th part of 
ninety eight acre survey to be free from the claims of themselves 
and their heirs But does not warrant and defend the title from 
any other claim In Witness whereof the said George W. Deskins and 
Myrinda his wife have hereunto suscribed their names and caused 
their seals to be affixed the day and year above written.
