Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the Love and affection hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant and convey unto the party of the 2nd part his heirs and assigns all of our interest in two tracts of land being then one ninth part situate and being in the County of Mercer and State of Virginia the first lying on Brush Creek in said County the same formerly owned by James Bayley and the same sold by Jno H Bayley to Lewis Shufflebarger. The second tract of ten acres lying near the Camp ground in same County sold by Jno H. Bailey to Ashworth being the same lands descended to Elizabeth Hager from Her father Micager Bailey deceased together with appurtenances thereunto belonging or appertaining. To have and to Hold the land hereby conveyed with the appurtenances unto said Buchannan Means his heirs and assigns for ever and the said parties of the first part doth by these presents warrant and defend the title to the said tracts of land free from the claim or claims of all persons claiming by through or under them only. In testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this day and date above written. Elizabeth X (her mark) Hager Allen Hager The Commonwealth of Kentucky Pike County to wit: I Solomon H. Dawson Clerk of Pike County Court for the County aforesaid do certify that this Deed of Conveyance from Elizabeth Hager to Buckhannon Means was presented to one in my office by the said Elizabeth Hager the grantor and was by her acknowledged to be her act and Deed for the purpous therein and disired the same to be certified to the Clerks office of Mercer County Court Clerks office in the state of Va for record whereupon the said Decd is accordingly certified to said County Clerk office for record. I Testimony whereof I have herewith set my hand and affixed the seal of said Court Done at Pikesville Kentucky November 13th 1855. Attest Sol. K. Dawson Clk I William Cecil Judge of the Pike County Court in the state of Kentucky and by virtue of said office as Judge of the Pike County Court is said state do certify that Sol K. Dawson whose signature is affixed to the foregoing certificate was on the day it bears date Clerk of said Court and that the said certificate and attestations is in due form.
