Tazewell County VA Clear Fork of Wolf Creek

Tazewell County Virginia deed Book, 12 page 629

    This Deed made the 1s day of August in the year 1857
between Alem Hager & Rissel Hager and Sarah his wife of the
first part John S. W. Kneal of second part Witnesseth that
for and in consideration of two hundred and fifty dollars
paid to the said Hagers they the said Alem & Russel Hager &
Sarah his wife do grant unto the said John S. W. Kneal all
the wright (sic) and title to a certain tract or parcel of
land lying and being in the County of Tazewell and state of
Virginia with waters of the Clear Fork of Wolf Creek and
adjoining the lands of Mary Pendleton and others in what is
called the Back Valley to wit beginning on a red oak on or
near Oliver Winns old line in a hollow near a branch thence
running northwardly to the top of Buck horn mountain to a
hickory thence westwardly with the meander of the top of the
same opposite Samuel Shavers thence with southwardly down
the said mountain to a dogwood & chestnut on or near the
said Oliver Winns line & from thence eastwardly with said
Winns line to the beginning to have and to hold the said
land from all claims under the said Hagers gether (sic) with
all the appurtenances to him said John S. W. Kneal witness
he following signatures & seals.  It is to be understood
that if any part of the above named land shall be held other
older claims the said Hagers is not be held bound.

Virginia Mercer County to wit:
    We S. Thompson and A. Bailey Justices of the peace for
the County of Mercer and the state of Virginia do certify
that Alem Hager, Russell Hager whose names and seals to the
writing above bearing date on the 1st day of August 1859 has
acknowledged the same before us in ower (sic) county
aforesaid given under our hands the 1st day of November
1859.

Mercer County to wit:
    We S. Thompson & A. Bailey Justices of the peace in
said County do certify that Sarah Hager, wife of Russell
Hager whose name as signed to the writing bearing date the
1st day of August 1859 personally appeared before us in the
Court aforesaid and being examined privily and apart from
her husband & having the writing aforesaid fully explained
to her she the said Sarah Hager acknowledged the same
writing to be her act & declared that she has fully executed
the same & does not wish to retract it.  Given under our
hands this 1st day of November 1859.
