VA Clinch Valley News Established 1845 J. A. Leslie, Editor & Proprietor Tazewell, Tazewell Co., VA Cost: $1.00, per year-in advance CIVIL WAR: Clinch Valley News, Friday, January, 19, 1906, Tazewell, Tazewell Co.,VA THE ROLL CALL OF THE 16TH Through the energy and thoughtfulness of our friend, A. W. TABOR, Falls Mills, we are able to give a list of the members of Company I, 16th Regiment, Virginia Cavalry. * ( * ALEXANDER WALTHAM TABOR) This company was organized in the Spring of 1862, in this community. W. L. Graham was the first captain. After his promotion to the office of Colonel, and the division of the company into two, First Lieutenant W.E. Peery, became Captain. This company, as will be seen, was made up of many of the county’s best known men. This list was compiled by MR. S. F. TABOR (Samuel Flummer Tabor, s/o Daniel Tabor & Mary Martha Flummer), Falls Mills, now in his 86th year, and of the oldest survivors of this company, entirely from memory. He has forgotten many things as well as people, of his long life, but he retains a vivid and tender recollection of his old comrades of the dark days. As near as can be ascertained with certainty, 65 of the old comrades have answered the last roll call, of the original 125 names. We will let this list stand for a week in order to add additional names that may have been omitted. Send them to this office. "Keep Their Graves Green." List is published on 2nd page (A. W. Tabor-Alexander Waltham Tabor, s/o Amos H. Tabor. Amos H., s/o Daniel Tabor & Mary Martha Flummer . S. F. Tabor-Samuel Flummer Tabor, also s/o Daniel, brother of Amos H. Tabor, Uncle of A.W. Tabor) ___________________ CIVIL WAR: Clinch Valley News, Friday January 19, 1906, Tazewell, Tazewell Co., VA ROSTER OF COMPANY I, SIXTEENETH REGIMENT, VIRGINIA CAVALRY, C.S.
