D. one thousand eight hundred and seventy one, personally appears before me (1) Rees B. Gillespie clerk of the County of Tazewell a court of record within and for the county and state aforesaid (2) Zachariah Perdue aged 100 years, a resident of Tazewell County of ----- and State of Virginia who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is married: (3) that his wife name was Sally Wolf to whom he married at ---- on the ----- day of ----- 18--; that he served the full period of sixty days in the (4) military service of the United State in the war of 1812; that he is the identical Zachariah Perdue who (5) was enrolled in Captain ------Company, --------Regiment, -------Brigade, ------Division, at --------in the State of Virginia on the ------day of ---------181--, and was honorable discharged at ------, on the -------day of---------,18--; that (6)--------Being short of memory he has forgotten his Captains name and the dates but refers to the papers filed for bounty lands under the acts of Congress of 1850 & 1853, and to his bounty land warrant for 120 acres bearing the August 21st, 1853, No 10954. that he at no time, during the late rebellion against the authority of the United States, adhered to the cause of the enemies of the Government, giving them aid and comfort, or exercised the functions of any office whatever under any authority or pretended authority in hostility to the United States; and that he will support the Constitution of the United States; that he is not in receipt of a pension under any previous act; (7)----------------------- that he makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the pension roll of the United States under the provisions of the Act of February 14, 1871; and he hereby constitutes and appoints, with full power of substitution and revocation, CHARLES C. TUCKER, of Washington, D. D. his true and lawful Attorney, to prosecute his claim and obtain the pension certificate that may be issued; that his post office is at Jeffersonville County of Tazewell State of Virginia, and that his domicil or place of abode is Jeffersonville. (8) Zachariah (his X mark) Perdue Attest: Nathan Sawyers David K. (his X mark) Perdue Also personally appeared Nathan Sawyers and David K. Perdue, both residing at Jeffersonville in the County of Tazewell and State of Virginia persons whom I certify to be respectable and entitled to credit; and who, being by me duly sworn say: That they were present and saw (2) Zachariah Perdue, the Claimant, (9) make his mark to the foregoing declaration; that they have every reason to believe, from the appearance of said claimant and their acquaintance with him, that he is the identical person he represents himself to be; that at no time during the late rebellion against the authority of the United States did he adhere to the cause of the enemies of the Government giving them aid and comfort; and that they have no interest in the prosecution of this claim. D. 1871; and I hereby certify that the contents of the above declaration, &c., were fully made known and explained to the applicant and witnesses before swearing; and that I have no interest, direct or indirect, in the prosecution of this claim.
