The physicians performed the second operation last Saturday, taking about half a gallon of matter. The patient always rests better for a few days after the operation. (I believe this to be Samuel D. Holbrook, b. Dec 1895, s/o Rev. Zachariah Dee Holbrook & Mildred Permelia "Millie" Kinzer. Milly apparently a namesake of her grandmother Mildred Permelia "Milly" (Shrader) Tabor. This Milly was the d/o John Broce Kinzer and Clarrisa Jeanette Tabor, d/o Richard Adam Tabor & Mildred Permelia "Milly" Shrader . Rev. Zachariah Holbrook , s/o Rev. James W. Holbrook & Margaret Christina Shrader. We are glad to report Rev. J. W. Holbrook getting along easier this week than he did last. (I Believe to be Rev. James W. Holbrook, b. Oct 1839, who married Christina Margaret Shrader, d/o John Henry Shrader, Jr., & Edith Belle "Edy" Day. James W. Holbrook, s/o Randall/Randolph Holbrook and Mary H. "Polly" Waggoner). Miss Nellie Wilson, one of Mrs. Boone’s old home friends being the guest of Mrs. Boone for some time, has had a sever attack of measles but is improving at this writing. On last Monday evening, when Mr. E. G. Wagner arrived at home from Tazewell where he had been serving his country as a juror, he had the pleasure of being presented with a boy baby. The mother and Alexander St. Clair are said to be doing nicely. (Elias Green Wagner and his second wife, Mary Ann "Molly" Kinzer, d/o John Broce Kinzer & Clarissa Jannette Tabor . Clarissa was the d/o Richard Adam Tabor & Mildred Permelia "Milly" Shrader. This Wagner family will later move to Bland Co., VA). Alexaner St. Clair Wagner, b. February 22, 1902, d. October 6, 1985 at Staunton, Augusta Co., VA. Rev. W. N. Wagner sold his fine saddle horse on Saturday, march 1902, to Mr. R. C. Wells of Bluestone. Now who’s right? (POSSIBILITY that this was William Nathan Wagner, brother of Elias Green Wagner). On Thursday night of last week we had the most destructive floods in the community that has been in this valley for many years. There was no as much water as there was on the 22nd of June last, but the damage done to the land along the creek and to the road by washing them away is more than all the floods put together for twenty years have done. People are afraid to ride horseback in many places from Tip Top almost to St. Clair. Also a very heavy hail storm on Friday even (sic) about dark, but no special damage was done as your scribe knows of.
