AT FALLS MILLS-THE SICK IMPROVING-OTHER NEWS
Falls Mills, Va., March 15,
While making a piece of new road near Flat top Yards, a box about three
feet long  containing a suit of clothes, a shirt, and a pair of sox was
unearthed. It was under the ground about three feet and had evidently
been there some time as the box had began to decay and the clothing was
rotten. How it got here is a mystery. This seems to be a good locality
for mysterious discoveries. Last fall a large valise full of ladies
wearing apparel was found on the West bank of Bluestone, near the mouth
of the Big Branch and the next day after finding the valise, a ladies
hat was found further up the stream. The hat and clothes were viewed by
most every one in the community, but on one was able to identify them.
Who, they belonged to or how they came there is another mystery.

Mrs. Ben Parker, of Keystone, is visiting her father, Mr. R. Gillespie

Dudley McGuire, of Horsepen, is visiting his grandfather, H. D. Dudley,
at this place.
(Hugh Dudley McGuire, s/o James G. McGuire & Frances B. Dudley, d/o Hugh
D. Dudley & Mary Jane Shuffleberger). Hugh D. Dudley’s brother, James
Craig Dudley married Mariah Elizabeth Tabor the d/o Francis Tabor & Mary
Shrader (NOT Sanders).

A large number of crossties and mining props was taken off the yard here
Monday. This is welcome news to the farmers who have been hauling here.

Mr. Winfrey who was so badly burned by the explosion of a keg of powder,
is again able to be out.

We are sorry to report  S. W. Marrs on the sick list this week.
(I BELIEVE tto have been Samuel W. Marrs, s/o William Marrs &
Louvicie/Louisa Mitchell, in 1900 S Samuel Marrs was living, in the
Falls Mills Tazewell Co., VA.,  area with his sister, Dora B. Marrs
Carter, who was the widow of Thomas M .Carter who had died August 12,
1998).

William Mullin, who has been  confined to his room for over two weeks,
(is) improving.

O. D. Fields has moved into his new house, which was finished last week.

(Oscar/Oliver D. Fields married Cora Belle Buckland on 27 December
1899,  in Tazewell Co., VA. Cora Bell was the d/o Jacob Alexander
Buckland & Sarah J. Tabor who was the d/o James Harrison Tabor & Nancy
Moore Runion).

BAILEY ITEMS
Bailey, Va.,  March 18,  Mrs. Z. D. Holbrook, whose name has been
mentioned before as recovering from both Typhoid and Pneumonia Fever, is
doing very well. Her housekeeper, Miss Browning, is thought to be no
better, and her little son, Sammy, age 6, has symptoms of Typhoid Fever.

(Mrs Z. D. Holbrook was Permelia 'Millie' Kinzer, d/o John Broce Kinzer
& Clarissa Jennette Tabor who was the d/o Richard Adam Tabor & Mildred
Permelia'Millie'  Shrader. Mrs. Holbrook's husband was Rev. Zachariah
Dee Holbrook, s/o Rev. James W. Holbrook & Christina Margaret Shrader.
Christina Shrader, d/o John Henry Shrader, Jr., & Edith Belle 'Edy' Day.
Rev James W. Holbrook , s/o Randall/Randolph Holbrook &  Mary H. 'Polly'
Waggoner).

Mrs. Chas. E. Thomasson (sic), whose illness we mentioned  last week, is
no better.
(Mrs. Chas. E. Thomason was Frances ?I do not know her surname. Charles
E. Thomason was the s/o Daniel Thomason & Elizabeth A. Deaton. Two of
the siblings of Charles married a child and a grandchild of Richard Adam
Tabor & Mildred Permelia Shrader).
1. James Warren Thomason married Cynthia Ann Tabor, d/o Richard & Millie
Tabor
2. Naomi Jane Thomason married William Alexander 'Bee' Tabor, s/o Henry
Jefferson 'Jeff' Tabor, s/o Richard & Millie Tabor. Henry Jefferson
Tabor died while serving in the Civil War.

Mr. J.  A. Holbrook has been complaining for a few days.
(POSSIBLE son , Joseph A. Holbrrok, of Rev. James W. Holbrook &
Christina Margaret Shrader).

Mr. C. C. French is complaining of something between a very sever cold
and the grip.
(I BELIEVE this to have been Charles Campbell French- a descendant of
pioneer, Mathew French.

The burial of Jesse Bailey took place on Thursday the 14th, about twelve
o'clock in the presence of a very large crowd of people as Mr. bailey
had many friends. The day was moderately pleasant and the congregation
large. After appropriate religious services, conducted by Rev. J. T.
Fraizer, the remains were laid away in the family burying ground, to
await the Resurrection of the just. While the grave was being filled the
choir sang, :"In the Resurrection Morning We Shall Rise."

(I believe this to have been Jessee Bailey, s/o Jesse Bailey, Sr., &
Mary Cook. I show the deceased was married to Mary Ann Shannon, d/o
William V. Shannon, Sr., & Mary Brown Moore.)
