JAS W. DOAK , of Tazewell , to MISS SALLIE WAGNER, of this place. REV. R. M. WALKER, officiating, and the other was MR. CHARLES BARKER, of Bluefield to MISS OLLIE PETERS, of Tiel Branch, REV. J. D. TICKLE officiating. [Sallie Wagner, d/o David nicewander Waggoner & Mariah E. Deaton]. MR EVANS WILLIAMS, of Giles Co., who attended the DOAK-WAGNER marriage, returned to his home Sunday. His sister, MISS (WILLIAMS), will leave Tuesday the 6th accompanied by MISS MARRY WAGNER, MISS MARY may be captured while gone and may not get back soon. ADDED DATA: I BELIEVE James W. Doak to have been a widower, at the time of his marriage to Sallie Wagner, as this James W. Doak was the ONLY James W. Doak, in the Tazewell area, to have been of an age to marry Salllie Wagner]. 1900 TAZEWELL CO VA CENSUS # 127 Tazewell Town, Fred W. Pendleton, enumerator JAS W. DOAK, 49, b. Mar 1851 Va (all in home b. VA), widower/sawmill …..Willis E. , 24, b. Jine 1875, labor …..Effie L., 23, b. Apr 1877, daughter …..Lula A. 18, b. Mar 1882, daughter …..Clarence W., 15, b. May 1885, at school Submitted From Shraders, Va. We had what I call a novel wedding in the Cove. MR. JOHN H. MC GUIRE and MISS FANCY CROCKETT, after an extended courtship, came to the conclusion that they loved each other sufficiently well to become husband and wife, but the girl’s parents seemed to be opposed to the match. So they wisely secured the proper authority and the young lady was stolen, and on the night of the first of August, at the silent hour of 10 o’clock, P. M., as old nights nocturnal queen mounted upon her royal throne, ascended over the eastern hill tops and looked with her fine eyes of consciousness serenely down upon the scene. The young couple were solemnly united in holy wedlock in the presence of the following persons: MISSES LAURA and BIRDIE SHRADER, MESSERS W. P., SAYERS, PARIS SHRADER, and J. ED MC GUIRE. REV. G. W. PRESLEY officiated. [Fancy Crockett- Sarah Frances Crockett, b. 27 June 1881, whom was of the same area, and was a d/o Thomas Gillespie Crockett, 1844-1934 & Nancy Sarilda ‘Nannie’ (Harman) Crockett,, 1854-1921. I wonder if Fancy should have been Fanny. John H. Mcguire , s/o George P. & Nellie (Harrison) McGuire, of that area. George P. McGuire was the s/o John McGuire and Jensy ‘Jenny’ Sharder, d/o Henry Shrader, Sr., & Second wife, Louisa Kennedy. Jenny, and sometimes Jensy, were names of endearment for Virginia. However, her name was printed as Jane in the 1850 & 1860 Tazewell Co., VA Census records that I have in a transcribed form. Larua Bell Shrader & P. G. Shrader=children of William Louis Shrader & Letitia ‘Lettie’ George who is the d/o Isaiah Paris George & Nancy ‘Milly’ Hedrick. Birdie Shrader-I BELIEVE to be Birdie Harrison Shrader, d/o Samuel Crockett Shrader & Mary Jane Davis. J. ED McGuire MIGHT have been Janes E. McGuire., s./o James G. McGuire & Frances ‘Fannie’ Dudley. W. P. SAYERS-uncertain]. ADDED DATA: 1900 TAZEWELL CO VA CENSUS # 115 Jeffersonville Dist. GEORGE MC GUIRE, 51 b. Apr 1849 VA (All b.
