ALBERT VERNON and wife, of Elkhorn, have been visiting the family of T. E. TABOR. [Thomas Edward Tabor, Sr., 1844-1915, s/o James Harrison Tabor & Nancy Moore Runion/Runyon] The young folks of this place and vicinity had a picnic at the foot of the Stony Ridge on the 4th. They report a pleasant time. ……. The glorious fourth is gone, so is the money. Some of the young folks in this vicinity went to the top of the Stony Ridge on (the) night of the fourth to view the of fireworks at Bluefield which they report as being beautiful. ………… We took in the 4th at Pocahontas and that night felt like we had been taken in our self …… We like temperance people, but the line should be drawn somewhere. It is often difficult to tell which is the most disagreeable; an intemperate person or an extremist. ……………. Your correspondent at Italy celebrated the 4th by taking in Pocahontas, Coopers, Bramwell, Simmons, Duhring, Goodwill, Cane Creek and Bluefield.. His patriotism arose to such a high degree that he celebrated (at) Graham on Sunday and did not return until Monday morning. We are a loyal people. [Ha, these correspondents were always kidding one another, between Falls Mills, Taborsville, and Italy Leaks-often called Italy]. …………. The bottom must have dropped out of the boom at Taborsville and caught your correspondent at that place, as we see nothing of him anymore. ………. SAM MARRS has been on the sick list for the last few days. ………………… MISS CARRIE HICKS, of Bluefield, who has been visiting the family of MR. and MRS. J. C. FINK, returned to her home Monday morning. [James C. Fink, b. Mar. 1849 married Cynthia M. Dudley, b. Dec. 1850, d/o Hugh D. Dudley & Mary Jane Shufflberger. I do not know Miss Hicks]. ………….. MRS. BEN PARKS, of Paris Ky., is visiting her father, MR. ROBERT GILLESPIE. BLUESTONE NEWS E. E. HALE and WM. PERDUE are getting along well with the house building. (Elias Edward Hale, s/o Charles A. Hale & Julletta Bailey. Elias Edward Hale married Mary Ella/Ellen Tabor, d/o Russell B. Tabor & Elizabeth Compton]. …………. A. P. Tabor has the lumber on the ground for his dwelling house. Everything is looking up in our valley at present. [Allen Preston Tabor, 1858-1927, s/o Russell B. Tabor & Elizabeth Compton]. BAILEY C. A. WAGNER came home from the. coalfields one day last week and got to Graham too late for (a) train, so he came up to Bailey on a freight and is getting off fell on his shoulder, getting right badly hurt but not seriously hurt. HOUNDSELL, who has been reported as being on a visit to (East) Tennessee returned home the second. He reports a pleasant (trip) and also reports that he has (le)ased a farm in Seviere (sic) county (but) not in the district of the college referred to in the News of ___?___ where it is said that a Democrat was never born. [Andrew Houndsell, this is in reference to his June trip to Talbot, TN., to visit if daughter, Mrs. J. L. Massey, and to Carson Newman College at Jefferson City, TN. They are just grand specimen(s) of workmanship, and are intended as wagon road ways under the R. R. Five were constructed by A. Alberrtoli, the Italian contractor. Two by the Sam Walton Company.
