Curtis Jones filled his regular appointment here Sunday night. He was accompanied by Mrs. Jones and Curtis Jr. Supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Christian and son Clitus. Rev. W. E. Mustard is expected Sunday night. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Johnson were called to Chattanooga, Tenn on account of the death of Mrs. Johnson's aunt, Mrs. Chap Wingo. Rev. Mr. Wingo preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 1943 Mrs. John White was the weekend guest of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Johnson and Miss Gladys. Misses Eveline and Laura Childress of Grundy School, were the weekend visistors of their parents Mr. and Mrs. Add Childress. Mrs. C.H. Trayer and daughter Miss Peggy, were visitors in Richlands Saturday. Mrs. Bettie Guny visited in Cliffield Saturday. J. H. Johnson is able to be out after a few days of illness. Corp. M. T. Craig and wife visted their parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Craig, over the weekend, returning Saturday night to Washington DC. Those on the sick list: Mrs. H. G. Gillespie, Mrs. J.L. Ringstaff and Mrs. Joe Jackson. Miss Elizabeth Ringstaff, of Tazewell spent the week end at home. Miss Lucille Lovell is able to be out after an attack of flu. Billie McGee is on the road to recovery after an appendix operation. Mrs. Walter Harris and children of Cedar Bluff was a visitor to her mother, Mrs. H.T. Ringstaff Wednesday. Wanda, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.E. Thomas was operated on for appendicitis at Clinch Valley Clinch Wednesday. She is doing nicely. Around Tazewell Feb 12, 1943 In and around Tazewell Fugate White who has been ill in St. Lukes hospital, Bluefield, has returned to his home. Eugene McFarland, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.L. McFarland, Bluefield, Va. is now stationed with the US Navy at More Island Ca. Miss Syvil Cross, of Suffolk Va. and Dr. Henry Bowen, of Franlklin Va. were guests of Mr. and Mrs. H.A. Bowen the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Cox and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Humphrey, of Liberty, visited Mrs. John Witten Sunday. Mrs Witten is a patient at Clinch Valley Clinic. Carl Kimball is spending a few days in Tazewell as the guest of his father Mr. Will Kimball. He is stationed at New Port Air Base in New Port, Arkansas. Bob Bailey, who has been visiting his family and mother here has returned to camp near Louisville Ky. Jack Hawkins has returned to Fort Story after a visit with is brother Ralph Hawkins. Mrs. John Witten, Of Liberty, who is a patient at the Clinch Valley Clinic is improving and is expected home soon. Mr. C.W. Jones, who underwent an operation at the Bluefield Sanitarium Tuesday is getting along nicely. Jack and Mrs. Barnett have been guests of Mrs. Barnett's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Harris for the past week. Mr. Barnett is recovering from a severe attack of pnemonia. They expect to return to Norfolk area next week. Mr. and Mrs. Dewey McKenney, of Bishop, Va announced the marriage of their daughter, Alice May Ree, to Ralph Witten Yost, of Tazewell on Saturday, Feb. 6, 1943. The ceremony was performed at the Baptist parsonage by the Rev. Harry T. James. Mack Pruett was over from Bishop Wednesday and stats that his son, Dave Pruett in one of the Southern Camps, has been commended for his marksmanship. He came from the Squirrel hunting section. Wade Coates, member of the US Air corps, stationed in New Jersey, has been selected to take a special course in the administrative school in Colorado. After completing his course he will return to his station in NJ. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Coates of Tazewell. Sgt. W. Rufus Thompson and Pvt. Samuel A Thompson have been transferred to Alaska and San Marcos, Texas respectively. They are sons of Mrs. Clara E. Thompson, of Burkes Garden. Mrs. Thompson has another son helping the war effort, Lieut. (j.g.) James W. Thompson. Stationed at the naval base at Norfolk. Raleigh Emerson Tabor aviation cadet, recently graduated from the pre-flight school at Maxwell Field in Montgomery Ala. He is now in primary trainging with the 51st army air force flight training detachment at the Alabama Institute of Aeronautics, Tuscaloosa, Ala. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raleigh Tabor of Falls Mills. Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Shrewsberry of West Main st. had as their guests Sunday, D. C. Steele, private second class of the United States navy. Young Steele is a gunner on plane tail and is stationed at Norfolk. He is the nephew of Mrs. Shrewsberry and has visited here on several occasions.
