MR. C. W. MATTHEWS, of Graham, spent a day or so in the community the
first of the week.

MRS. R. H. MATTHEWS, of Graham, is visiting her parents, MR. and MRS.
WILL ALLEN, and her many friends at this place. She will spend several
days in the community.
(Mrs. Eveline ‘Big Mother’ Robert Harold Matthews ?was the grandmother
of Barbara Matthews. Robert Harold Matthews was the s/o Charles Wesley
‘Wes’ Matthews- the Civil War Veteran - who lived to be 102).

FIVE HUNDRED PERSONS DROWNED
Portland, Ore, June 15,
Five hundred people lost their lives in a cloud burst that almost
entirely destroyed the town of Heppner, Ore., at 6 o’clock last night.
Heppner is the county seat of Morrow and had about 1, 260 inhabitants.
