It is charged that STROUTH picked the girl up beyond Richlands and hauled her to a point west of Claypool Hill, when the girl either fell out of the car or was thrown out and injured. Wiley TAYLOR, of North Tazewell, was fined $10.00 for reckless driving. He was charged with backing into the car of Woodrow LOVE. The Gift Shop at the Martha Washington Inn at Abingdon will show an exhibit of Arts and Crafts by Mrs. G.A. POBST on Friday, March 29th. A collection of botany prints of wild flowers in water colors will be displayed, mounted months and insects, metal and leather craft and wood burning. A collection of "Deep South Dollies" made by Mrs. John W. GILLESPIE will also be shown at this time. The shop will serve tea from 2 to 5 and all interested are cordially invited. BEAVERS, who for the past twenty-eight years has been shop foreman for the Federal Lumber Company and its predecessor at North Tazewell, Virginia, died last Friday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry G. TOMLINSON, Jr. of Tazewell, where he had been ill for the past three months. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Tazewell Baptist Church, the Rev. W.S. JONES and the Rev. Harold J. DAVIS officiating. Burial was held in Maplewood Cemetery. Mr. BEAVERS was born at North Tazewell, on January 19, 1885, being a son of the late D.E. and Carrie Kiser BEAVERS. He was married to Dora Gray ROBERTS, on January 13, 1909, to which union was born eight children, seven of whom survive. One son, Roy Kent, lost his life on December 10, 1929 when he accidentally picked up a live wire while working at English, West Virginia. Surviving sons and daughters are: Mrs. R.Y. MUNDY, of North Tazewell, Va; Mrs. Henry G. TOMLINSON, Jr. of Tazewell, Va; Earnest, Curtis, Mary, Cecil and David BEAVERS, all of North Tazewell, Virginia. He is also survived by the following grandsons and grand daughters; J.W. Bobbie and Charlie Mundy, and Katherine Gray TOMLINSON. He is also survived by the following brothers and sister: E.B. BEAVERS, Castlewood, Virginia; Mrs. Garfield MORLEY, and Mrs. F.E. FIELDS, Harman, Va.; Mrs. Jamie CHAFIN, Hansonville, Virginia; Mrs. John BISE, Lebanon, Va.; C.C. BEAVERS, Belfast, Va.; W.G. BEAVERS, Coeburn, Va.; Mrs. Ollie LITTON, Bluefield, West Virginia, and Otis Howard BEAVERS, Inglewod, California. Mr. BEAVERS was a man of high moral character and was well loved by all who knew him. He will be missed in the community in which he lived. He was devoted to his wife during her lifetime, and to his family. He was a direct descendant of the MOORE family of Abbs Valley. Contractor Cleve JONES states that he has orders for two new homes to be erected in West Tazewell. One is for Albert MCCALL and one for Dr. J.A. REESE. MCCALL'S house will go up on a lot recently purchased from C.R. MOSS, and Dr. REESE will use the lot adjoining the district parsonage. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph CHANCE of Jonesville, announce the marriage of their daughter, Aubyn, to Mr. Calvin Spencer POWELL, of Richlands. The marriage took place on December 16 at Tazewell. Mr. POWELL is a son of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. POWELL, of Roanoke, and is owner of the Powell Plumbing and Heating Company, of Richlands. Mrs. Vernon JOHNSON, of Tazewell, has announced the engagement of her daughter, Miss Mary GRAY. Thompson to Robert Edgar HELTZEL, of Richmond. The wedding will take place in the early summer. Mrs. S.A. PRESSLEY, of Greenwood, S.C. has announced the marriage of her sister, Miss Bessie CROCKETT to Mr. William Osborne FREELAND on Sunday, March 24th at Greenwood. These two fine Tazewell girls, daughters of the late Dr. and Mrs. Henry CROCKETT, of Tazewell, are well known here, their former home. POUNDING MILL Rev. Lee HILL, Methodist minister, filled his appointment here Sunday night. Rev. Curtis JONES will preach here Sunday night. Rev. Curtis HANKS will preach Saturday and Sunday nights on Quarry Hill, Rev. Tommy MARTIN preached there the past week. S.T. SPARKS returned home on Wednesday from Bluefield sanitarium, where he underwent an appendix operation about two weeks ago. Mr. and Mrs. Mike MCGEE are the proud parents of a son, born March 21, Weight 5 1-2 pounds. He has been named Joe Lee. Mrs. Kate MCGEE visited her uncle, George COWEN, Friday, who is in a Bluefield hospital. Mr. and Mrs. C.H. ROBINETTE and David, were shopping Monday in Tazewell. Olivia and G.H. GILLESPIE and Billy STEELE attended a birthday party Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John I. DEBORD, of Steelsburg, in honor of their daughter, Betty. Mrs. Betty GUS visited her cousin, Mrs. PILKINS at Cliffield on Friday, who has been ill. Miss Gene MUSICK, of Cleveland, spent Easter with her aunt, Mrs. M.H. CHRISTIAN and family. Miss Mary Sue RINGSTAFF spent the holidays at home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.L. RINGSTAFF. She is a student of Milligan College, Tennessee. Harry PETTS spent Easter at his home with his mother, Mrs. India PETTS, and sister, Mrs. Jess. The latter went with him as far as Norton and found it very hard to drive over the mountain in snow. T.C.E. Union met at the church Friday night, with Richlands, Cliffield and Pounding Mill organized. Mr. BEAVERS, of Richlands, was elected county president. Mr. and Mrs. Ad CHILDRESS and daughters, Evelyn and Lauvia Elizabeth, were Easter shopping Saturday in Bluefield.
