S.B. and George WARD and their wives are on their way home from Florida, according to a postal received here this week. Mr. and Mrs. Roy S. THOMPSON, of Bluefield, were visiting their parents here Sunday. Eugene THOMPSON, cashier of the Bank at Berwind; Ralph THOMPSON, of Bluefield, were visiting their parents here Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Walter KISER, of War, West Virginia, were visiting here Sunday. Henry KISER, War, West Virginia was visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.G. KISER here Sunday. Stuart IRESON, Williamson, West Virginia, was visiting homefolks at North Tazewell Monday. Dr. TYNES, Staunton, was visiting his mother, Mrs. Harriett TYNES on Tazewell avenue last Sunday. Eugene PEIRCE, whose illness and subsequent surgical operation in a Louisville hospital has been mentioned in this paper, reached his home here Wednesday night, and will remain here for several weeks recuperating. Mrs. J.P. HARMAN, of Norton, is visiting Mrs. W.T. GILLESPIE and other relatives here. Mr. S.L. DRAKE, of Anderson, S.C. has returned as superintendent of the Tazewell Manufacturing Company's ginger ale plant at North Tazewell, and is making the machinery hum. He expects to bring his family here soon. The Norton basketball team came up to Tazewell last Saturday and met the young ladies of the Tazewell High School in contest here Saturday morning. The score stood 11 to 4 in favor of the visitors. A.A. BOOTHE, the jitney driver, has taken the position of Sergeant of the town of North Tazewell. Mr. M.E. MUIR, of the Muire Monumental Works, of Pulaski, is in the community on business. Mr. and Mrs. George W. ONEY, of Steelsburg, were business visitors to Tazewell Monday. Ward Peery, of V.P.I. was at home for a breathing spell last week. Miss Phoebe COOK, of Fairfax College, has been visiting her friend, Miss Hazel HAMPTON. Mr. and Mrs. Haskell, SLUSS, of Graham, were visiting Mrs. SLUSS'S parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.G. BUSTON, in this town Sunday. Miss Louise DILGER, of Bluefield, was in Tazewell Sunday the guest of her friend, Miss Lucile THOMPSON. Mr. and Mrs. C.L. HUTTON, of Montgomery County, are visiting Mrs. HUTTON'S parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.J. LARIMER, in Thompson Valley. Mr. and Mrs. M.J. HANKINS, of Roanoke, have been visiting in the city for several days. Mrs. HANKINS father, H.G. PEERY, has been ill since his return from the South, but is reported better. Mr. J.A. BROWN, Indian, was here on Tuesday, and gave out a great story. He said his wife set a hen on 15 eggs. Two of the eggs were broken, but the hen hatched 15 chickens all the same. Now, what do you chicken raisers think? Isn't Brown trying to break into the Ananias Club? Rev. A.S. ULM will preach Sunday 11 am at Mt. Olivet; 3:30 pm at Concord. District conference at Lebanon, Va, April 12th. Mrs. Harry TAYLOR after a weeks visit to her mother, Mrs. B.W. STRAS, left on Tuesday for her home in Winston Salem. Miss Julia DICKENSON is visiting her sister, Mrs. A.S. HIGGINBOTHAM. Mr. Cecil LAWRENCE, of Princeton, is visiting his cousins, Misses Ethel and Harriett LAWRENCE at North Tazewell. W.W. ARROWOOD will preach at Peery's school house Sunday afternoon at 3:15. A.G. WYNN, formerly with the National Biscuit Co., but who was given a leave of absence several weeks ago, has gone back on the road, and has resigned his position as Secretary of the "Sons of Rest." John H. GEORGE, of Broadford sends a check to renew his tuition dues, through Miss Lyde MCCALL, who has been visiting there. John has moved to Saltville, in his new home from which high porch he still runs his farm. He deserves all the good and as little of the bad as any fellow we know of. John RUCKER, 23, a well known Graham man, was shot and killed at Knoxville, Tenn. Saturday and his wife is being held charged with the crime. Mr. RUCKER was an ex-service man and was awarded a medal for his skill with a rifle. His wife was Miss May WILCOX, of McDowell, West Virginia. They were married last June. His wife denies killing him. Mr. George W. GILLESPIE has been on the street this week looking and feeling "as well as usual." Mr. DOAK is still confined to his room, his condition not improving as rapidly as his friends had hoped. Joseph KELLY, Burkes Garden, was here on yesterday. He said the reports from his brother, Simon in Maryland, whose health is poor, are not very encouraging at this time. A recent letter, however, reports him as some better. Mrs. A.B. BUCHANAN has returned from a visit to her daughter, Mrs. MOORER, in South Carolina. Mrs. MOORER, her baby, and the baby of her brother Chancey BUCHANAN, have all been ill, but were all getting well when Mrs. BUCHANAN left. Col. James S. BROWNING, Pocahontas, was amongst us this week, as was also Col. W.C. PENDLETON. Baptist Valley, Va - Mr. M.K. DAILEY, of this place and Miss Bernice PHILLIPS, of Floyd County, were quietly married at the district parsonage in Tazewell on last Saturday, Mrs. DAILEY has taught school in this county for two years, and was principla of the Springville school last year. Mr. DAILEY is well known throughout the county. Their host of friends wish them a happy life. Shawvers Mills - Mrs. George SHAWVER left Monday for the Mattie Williams Hospital, where she will be operated on. Mrs. C.E. GREGORY left Sunday for New Castle, Va., to see her sister, Mrs. Mary CALDWELL, who is very ill. Mr. and Mrs. W.L. SHAWVER were called to Graham Sunday to the bedside of their son, Paul, who has been very ill, but is some better at this writing.
