Samuel Walton] ………… Every time the railroad company change (s) the schedule they make it more inconvenient for the people along the line. We had a very good schedule after No. 15 got to stopping hers, and if anything can be done to get it to stop again, it ought to be done and done at once. ……………… MISS. Compton age 20, single, b. in Tazewell Co., VA., and the s/o Ballard P. & Delilah. Emma J. Poe age 16, single and the d/o James A. & ? Married by Evan H. Brown. DEATH OF EMMA COMPTON: pages 115-116 EMMA COMPTON, married w/f Place of birth: Gall Mills, VA (I believe that MIGHT be Falls Mills, VA?) Date of Death:September 28, 1890 Place of Death: Mudfork, Tazewell Co., VA Age: 20Y Cause of Death: none listed Parents: Jas. & Reb. Compton (sic)-SHOULD be surname of POE * Informant: B. P. Compton, Father-in-law * When Emma J. (Poe) Compton died in 1890 her parents were listed as Jas. & Reb. (Rebecca) Poe. Elmira (May) Poe, first wife of James Poe, died in 1884. James Poe did not remarry until 1892 when he married Mary Dillion.. Emma J. (Poe) Compton, their daughter, died before her father, James Poe, remarried, in 1892. These facts lead me to believe that the name of James’ first wife/mother of Emma J. (Poe) Compton was either Rebecca Elmira May or Elmira Rebecca May. This is just my opinion-Karen EAGLE Moman.
