A sad, and what may prove a fatal trouble occurred near what is known as the Scott Witten place, in Abbs Valley, Sunday morning. It seems the trouble came about this way: A man who works for SAM MULLIN had killed a dog that had been running MR. MULLIN’S sheep, and the dog belonged to MR. GROVER BUTT, of Yards. Butt had been drinking, so his temper got the best of him, and he raised a fuss with the man, and knocked him down with a club, and the man shot at him, hitting him three times. He is now seriously, if not fatally wounded, and his parents are apprehensive of his recovery. [Grover C. (Cleveland?) Butt, s/o Charles Westley Butt & Virginia Celie Dudley.
