TAZEWELL COUNTY, VA - NEWSPAPERS - Clich Valley News, 4 Aug 1905, Taborsville ----€€€---- "Clinch Valley News" Tazewell, Tazewell Co., VA Friday, August 4, 1905 TABORSVILLE POSSOM HOLLOW VISITORS Taborsville, Va., Aug. 1 Farmers are very much behind with their work on account of the wet weather. …………… MR. and MRS. H. B. COMPTON were visiting in Bluefield last Sunday. [Henry BANE Compton & Sue Blanche Hale. H. B a s/o Ballard Preston & Delilah (Harless) Compton]. …………………………………………… TAZE PERDUE, of Brush Fork, was visiting W. G. HILL last Sunday, as was also J. H. WAGNER and FRANK HILL, of Possum Hollow. [No idea about Taze Perdue. Wiley G. Hill had a brother Frank Hill, both were sons of Hardin H. & Jane Hill. This Hardin & Jane Hill family was at one time, at least between 1849- 1865, in Allegheny Co., NC., where at least three of their children were born, Mary , Wiley G., and James F. Hill. J. H. Wagner could have been Joseph Hick Wagner, James Henry -both sons of Rev. Adam Edward Waggoner & Juline Elinor Tabor Wagner-. However, I am NOT certain. J. H. Wagner could also have been James Hoge Wagner, s/o Charles Alexander Wagner? Rissie Belle Wagner, d/o George Miles Wagner & Nannie Lane Tabor (my great great aunt & uncle), married Charles Mc Griffin Hill who was the grandson of Hardin & Jane Hill. So there was a connection between the Hill and Wagner families]. [There were a few William Tabor’s in the area in 1905 ] …………. MISS ELLA MAE WAGNER, who we have mentioned heretofore, as being sick, is getting along nicely. [Daughter of Parris Witcher & Patria Ann (Perdue) Wagner] ………………… MR. J. R. DUDLEY has recently purchased a new buggy, and J. F. HILL and J. J. BELCHER have each purchaed themselves a new wagon, so you see Mud Fork is still coming along. [I believe to be: James Robert Dudley, s/o James Craig Dudley & Mariah Elizabeth/Louisa Tabor, who married Carra W. French in 1904. Carra d/o Charles Campbell & Nancy Abaigial (Pauley) French. James Franklin Hill, s/o Hardin H. & Jane ‘Janey’ Hill. James married twice. SEE DATA BELOW James John/John James Belcher, s/o Isom Green Belcher & Mary Catherine Deaton. J. J. married Ellen Rebecca Compton, d/o Hiram Alonzo & Nancy Jane (Blecher) Compton]. …………………. J. H. SUMMERS, of Bluestone was on Mud Fork, a few days last week building a telephone line. COMPTON, of Bluefield, and MISS FLORENCE LUSK, of Mora, W. Va., are visiting in Taborsville this week. [Uncertain who Mrs. W. F. Compton was, if the middle initial is incorrect , it is probably an aunt of Florence Lusk. However, most certainly a kinswoman of Florence Lusk. The mother of Florence Lusk was either Maria or Harriet Compton, the daughters of Ballard Preston Compton & Delilah Harless. Either Maria or Harriet Compton married E. C. Lusk and the other one married Samuel H. Wysong]. …………………….. J. J. BELCHER, was seen the other day tying a can to the telephone wire, and when asked what he was doing he said he was going to send a message over to one of his neighbors to know if he could borrow his wagon, but Jim’s message did not go so he had to go himself [James John/John James Belcher, s/o Isom Green Belcher & Mary Catherine Deaton].
