STEPHEN DAVIS ……………. MR(S) JESSE FILLPOT, of Williamson, was visiting her father, W. E. DUDLEY, Saturday night and Sunday. [I do not know the daughter’s name. William E. Dudley was first married to Margaret L. Gillespie on 6 August 1881 in Mercer Co., WV. William married Minnie B. Etter on the 25 August 1897 in Mercer Co., WV. William E. Dudley was the s/o Hugh D. Dudley and Mary Jane Shuffleberger]. ………………. MISS NANNIE BROWN (sic), was visiting her father, H. D. DUDLEY last week [Hugh D. Dudley, s/o William Parham Dudley & Mary Stevens Deatherage. I am not familiar with a daughter named Nannie. If she was married it would have been Mrs. Nannie Brown so perhaps Nannie Brown Dudley was her name?] …………….. MISS CORA JONES, of Bluefield, spent Easter with her brother, WHARTON, on Gravely Hill. …………………………… W. J. FINK and wife were here on Sunday from Graham. [Walter J. Fink, s/o James C. Fink & Cynthia M.Dudley who was the d/o Hugh D. Dudley & Mary J. Shuffleberger]. …………… There is talk now of a railroad being surveyed up Mud Fork right away. [I, Karen EAGLE Moman, lived at Tazewell, Falls Mills, and Bluefield VA., from 1949 until 1960. When anyone talked of going to see a relative at Mudfork they always said, "I am going up Mudfork to see________?_________., as opposed to I am going to Mudfork]. MISS MAGGIE DUDLEY spent Tuesday night with her sister, MRS. A. K. BEAVERS. [Since almost all of this article regards the H. D. Dudley family I would think Miss Maggie Dudley MIGHT have been Margaret E. Dudley d/o H. D. Dudley. This is the ONLY Maggie Dudley in the Falls Mills area in 1900. I have no knowledge of a sister that married A. K. Beavers, as my data is sketchy on the Dudley family] ……………………. MRS. EMILY BUCKLAND, little MISS SUE SARVER, MRS. M. E. BRITTAIN, and her daughter spent Thursday at H. D. Dudley’s. [Emily ‘Emma’ (Tabor) Buckland, d/o James Harrison Tabor & Nancy Moore Runiuon. Emily Tabor married William Jasper Buckland, s/o Jacob W. P. & Marhta ‘Patsy’ Buckalnd. I believe little Miss Sue Sarver to be Emily Sue Sarver the d/o John Henry Sarver & Maude Irene Neal] as these two families lived on adjoining properties according to the 1900 Tazewell Co., VA Census. Mrs . George (Manerva/Minerva) Brittain lived five properties away from Emily Buckland in 1900 and her daughter was Florence. MISS LETTIE TABOR, of Upper Mud Fork, was in the village Friday afternoon. [It is my opinion that this should have been Lottie Tabor, who was Charlotte Lavinia ‘Lottie’ Tabor, b. Elgin Whitley Tabor & Octavia Zane Tiller. Lottie Tabor married Charles Mc Clellan Wagner, Sr., in 1907 who was the s/o Paris Witcher Wagner & Patria Ann Perdue]. ……….. MISSES MARY and ETHEL CRAWFORD were visiting relatives on Mud Fork last Monday. [No other data] Karen EAGLE Moman arizonaeagle@qwest.net June 5, 2002
