Burke's Garden is continually becoming more and more famous. "Some several summers since" J.K. GROSECLOSE killed a white hawk, later on, A.S. GREEVER killed a white heron, and Monday of this week J.H. GROSECLOSE killed what is known as an American Jabiru. This bird was seen on the mill dam by L.P. THOMPSON, who informed J.H. GROSECLOSE of its presence in the vicinity. Mr. GROSECLOSE went to the dam and after shooting several times succeeded in crippling it. The bird flew up the river and was afterwards found dead about a mile from the dam. The Jabirus is a perfect stranger in these parts. The oldest citizens say they never saw one before. It is a bird of the wading kind, is very much like the white Crane, except only about one sixth as large. The most peculiar feature about it is that its wings and neck are almost entirely bare of feathers. It's feet are green, and it has a very remarkable clear, brown eye.
