J. TABOR, of Falls Mills, was in town on Tuesday, and changed ends of the tally stick. When asked about the TABORS, he said, " they are all hard lots except ALEX." We hope Alex will labor with the TABORS. (I BELIEVE H. J. Tabor was Henry J. Tabor, s/o Stephen Paris Tabor & Eleanor Havens. It seems, about 100 years later, that this was an insult, to the Tabor families of the area, but that would not be the truth. The Tabors were a very respected family. Since many of the men were Masonic Brothers they got a kick out of this kind of good-natured banter among themselves, as I have found in many issues of the "Clinch Valley News." I feel certain the general well-informed public, in that era, realized this fact. Alexander ‘Alex’ Waltham Tabor, s/o Amos H. Tabor and grandson of Daniel Tabor & Mary Martha Flummer. However, I do not know what "change ends of the tally stick’’ meant). A. W. Tabor was Master of Harman Lodge # 222, 1887-1888). E. G. WAGNER was here on Tuesday to attend a meeting of the Board of Supervisors, of which he is a worthy member, and changed ends of the tally stick. ( Elias Green Wagner, s/o David Nicewander Waggoner & Mariah E. Deaton. Known as GREEN Wagner, he moved with his second wife, Mary Ann ‘Mollie’ Kinzer, d/o John Broce Kinzer & Clarrisa Jennette Tabor, d/o Richard Adam Tabor, to Bland Co., VA in October 1909).
